At first glance, the two porcelain dinner plates in Washington and Lee University's Reeves Center collection look identical. But while one is genuine — part of George Washington's dinner service decorated with the insignia of the Society of the Cincinnati — the other is a clever fake. And two Washington and Lee University students now have scientific proof of the forgery.
